The mosque covers a land area of about 6500 square meters. About 1900 square meters are used for the main building. This leaves ample space for parking and a serene park. Shady trees surround the mosque creating a calm atmosphere.
Unlike many mosques with traditional domes Masjid Raya Al-Ittihad features a unique star-shaped octagon roof. This design sets it apart. It makes it easily recognizable. The main building comprises two floors. The top floor serves as the main prayer hall. The lower floor functions as a multipurpose room.
On Fridays the multipurpose room bustles with worshippers. It provides additional space when the main prayer hall overflows. A large display shows the pulpit and the priest upstairs. This ensures everyone can follow the service. The main prayer hall is air-conditioned. It provides a cool and conducive environment for worship.
The banquet facilities often host wedding receptions. The mosque courtyard transforms into a lively marketplace every Friday. Traders sell food beverages clothing and Islamic souvenirs.
Masjid Al-Ittihad is more than just a place of worship. It also hosts various activities. These include Quran Education Cooperative Employees and Hajj Bureau. There is also a Taklim Assembly Board and Amil. Kindergarten and elementary schools are also located here.
The mosque’s management via Yayasan Bina Sarana Al-Ittihaad Tebet oversees these educational initiatives. Regular study groups reinforce the mosque’s role as a community hub. Masjid Al-Ittihad actively supports those affected by natural disasters. It provides assistance to Muslim communities across Indonesia.
