Isn’t it remarkable how a building can embody the spirit of unity? That is exactly what the Masjid Al Ittihaad does. Al Ittihaad means unity. The Masjid Al Ittihaad stands proudly in the Tebet Mas Indah complex. You will find it on Tebet Mas Indah 1 street in South Jakarta.

The Masjid Al Ittihaad is more than just a place of worship. It symbolizes togetherness. Inaugurated on March 20 1987 by the Minister of Internal Affairs H Soedharmono SH. The Masjid Al Ittihaad has served the community for decades.

Notice the unique star-shaped octagon dome. It sets the Masjid Al Ittihaad apart from other mosques with round domes. The main building comprises two floors. The top floor is for the main worship area. The lower floor serves as a multipurpose room. During Friday prayers the multipurpose room becomes an extension of the prayer hall. A large display shows the pulpit and the Imam upstairs.

The main prayer room is air-conditioned. This ensures a cool and serene atmosphere for worshippers. The multipurpose room hosts various events including wedding receptions. Fridays are especially lively here. Pilgrims and traders gather creating a vibrant scene in the mosque courtyard. You can find vendors selling food beverages clothing and Islamic souvenirs.

The Masjid Al Ittihaad is a hub for various activities. It hosts Quran Education programs a cooperative for employees a Hajj Bureau and a Taklim Assembly Board. There is even a kindergarten and elementary school.

Spanning approximately 6500 square meters the Masjid Al Ittihaad offers ample space. About 1900 square meters are dedicated to the main building. This leaves plenty of room for gardens and parking. Shady trees surround the mosque creating a calm atmosphere. The architecture is modern and captivating. The hexagonal star-shaped roof adds to its grandeur. A staircase enhances the mosque’s majestic appearance.

Inside the main hall can accommodate around 1500 worshippers. The floors are made of cream-colored terrazzo covered with red carpets. The carpets have Islamic star motifs and blue-yellow shaft lines. The Mihrab is a semicircular indentation about 4 meters in radius. A carved wooden podium with calligraphy stands inside the Mihrab. The altar is covered in cream-colored ceramic adorned with gold ornaments. Calligraphy decorates the upper walls near the roof. The calligraphy features the names of Allah and Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Eight skylights under the roof display alternating calligraphy of Allah and Prophet Muhammad SAW. A digital clock displays prayer times and announcements. The frame of the roof consists of exposed triangular geometric steel. The open space between the roof and walls allows for natural ventilation. Decorative three-tiered lamps hang from the dome.

The walls feature etched glass windows with images and the mosque’s name. Central air conditioning and twelve fans ensure comfort. The Masjid Al Ittihaad is truly a place where faith community and unity converge. As you leave take a moment to reflect on the sense of togetherness. It is a feeling that the Masjid Al Ittihaad embodies.
