Masjid Al Ikhlas is more than just a building. It’s a vibrant hub for Singapore’s Muslim community. Its story began with a vision to establish a place for prayer and Islamic learning.
The seeds of Masjid Al Ikhlas were sown in 1967. Visionary figures from residential complexes in Cipete sought to establish a Jami mosque. Their aim was to create a center for both Dakwah and the spread of Islamic teachings.
Driven by unwavering determination, these 35 founding figures embarked on a journey. They worked tirelessly to turn their noble aspiration into reality. Their door-to-door efforts ignited enthusiasm within the Cipete community. The idea for the Al Ikhlas Mushala emerged during Tarawih prayers held in various homes.
Nine years later, in 1976, construction began. By 1979, the dream materialized. Generous contributions from benefactors, Muzakki, and mosque congregations played a crucial role. Under the leadership of Buya H. Amirudin Siregar, Masjid Al Ikhlas rose as a symbol of unity.
The founders of Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas YMAI numbered 35 individuals. Their names are inscribed in the YMAI’s Deed of Establishment and Articles of Association.
Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas was officially established on April 11, 1967. Notary R. Soerojo Wongsowidjojo, SH, formalized it under number 24. The Articles of Association and Bylaws underwent several revisions. The latest update was enacted on September 9, 2007.
Masjid Al Ikhlas has a strategic location on Jl. Cipete 3 No. 3. The mosque is a spacious two-story structure covering 4,500 square meters. It can accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers. The ground floor serves as a versatile hall for various activities. The prayer space resides on the second floor. Expansive additional areas to the south and east enhance its grandeur. These areas also function as centers for community engagement.
Adjacent to Masjid Al Ikhlas are educational institutions. To the east is the KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas school. To the west lies the SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas. A shop run by the Koperasi Syariah Ikhlas Sejahtera Kopsyahira provides essential goods. These include groceries, school supplies, and uniforms.
