Masjid Al Ihsan

Could a small prayer room birth a grand mosque? Here at Masjid Al Ihsan, in Jakarta Barat, that’s exactly what happened. Masjid Al Ihsan wasn’t always the impressive structure you see before you. Its story begins humbly, in the 1970s, as a small mushala within the WITEL Jakarta Barat. This tiny space served as a much-needed place of worship for the Telkom employees. It was the seed from which the magnificent Masjid Al Ihsan would grow. In 1988, a significant shift occurred. The mushala, previously used only for daily prayers, began hosting Friday prayers. This marked its transition from a simple prayer room to a masjid, overseen by a diligent caretaker known as Ust. Ghani, or “Babeh”. The growing number of worshippers, both employees and local residents, soon outgrew the small masjid. This led to the first phase of construction in 2000. A new, larger Masjid Al Ihsan was erected, replacing the original mushala. This expansion was marked by a ceremony, including a plaque signing attended by important figures like Bpk. M. Nazif and Bpk. Kiskenda. Masjid Al Ihsan continued to flourish. In 2002, a second floor was added to accommodate the growing number of female worshippers. This ensured everyone could participate in prayers. Bpk. Kristiono signed the commemorative plaque for this phase. The mosque’s expansion didn’t stop there. By 2014, the grounds were extended again. A new prayer space, almost as large as the existing men’s area, was added to the south side of the mosque. This allowed Masjid Al Ihsan to welcome thousands of worshippers. The continuous efforts of the mosque’s management and the Telkom Group, both regionally and nationally, have shaped Masjid Al Ihsan into the landmark it is today. From a humble mushala to a grand mosque, its journey reflects the dedication and commitment of the community it serves.
