In 1979, Marymount became the first school in the UK to fully adopt the International Baccalaureate program. This shows the school’s commitment to providing a world-class education. Marymount uses American nomenclature for year groups. The final year of secondary education is Grade 12, not Year 13. Student leaders are elected to a Student Council. The head of the council is known as a president.

Boarding is available to all students. About a quarter of the student body are boarders. They live in four main halls. Houseparents and a resident nurse care for them. Younger boarders typically share triple rooms. Older students are allocated double or single rooms.

Students can also participate in community service projects. These projects involve exchange programs with sister schools.
