Founded in 1963 the Martin-Luther-King-Schule in Kassel initially served as a commercial vocational school. This building the Martin-Luther-King-Schule you see before you wasn’t always here. The school moved into its current location on Schillerstrasse in 1971. This solved the space problem common in schools of that era. The Martin-Luther-King-Schule received its name that same year. It was named after the renowned civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.
The Martin-Luther-King-Schule continued to grow. In 1979 it integrated the Business School and the Higher Commercial School. A new addition the School of Business Communication joined in 2008. The Higher Commercial School transitioned to a vocational school in 2017. It became part of a network with other vocational schools in the Kassel area.
Today the Martin-Luther-King-Schule is a significant vocational school. It serves students from all over Northern Hesse. It offers education in fifteen different vocational fields. The school’s main building on Schillerstrasse houses classrooms and the administration. A separate building on Schillerstrasse 5 accommodates specialized classrooms and IT facilities.
