Enrollment grew quickly. Maris Stella High School sought help from other schools for space. Between 1963 and 1966 lessons occurred at various locations. A grand opening celebrated this milestone. More development followed. In 1969 an administrative block and a large auditorium were added. These improvements cost over S$1.3 million.

Expansion continued in the 1970s. A five-storey building for the primary section was completed in 1975. It cost about $1.1 million. The new building officially opened in 1976. In 1982 a separate site was acquired for the primary section. This site was adjacent to the existing school. A three-storey building opened there in 1987. The primary and secondary sections became independent entities.

Maris Stella High School gained autonomous status in 1996. This provided more funds for programs and facilities. From 1995 to 1997 the school temporarily relocated to Mount Vernon Secondary School. This allowed for rebuilding of the campus.

In 2002 Maris Stella High School became a Cluster Centre of Excellence for ICT. The school continues to innovate.
