The Mandir isn’t just any temple. It’s the first traditionally designed Hindu temple built in mainland Europe. Situated in Bussy-Saint-Georges a Parisian suburb its construction is a joint effort between French and Indian architects and builders. This isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a vision decades in the making. Yogiji Maharaj first envisioned a temple in Paris way back in 1970. Pramukh Swami Maharaj furthered this dream. Mahant Swami Maharaj personally blessed the plans ensuring this project reflects a blend of ancient tradition and modern sensibilities.
The Mandir’s design is unique. It will boast three levels. The ground and first floors will be a cultural center for families. The second floor will house the mandir itself a sacred space for worship.
The foundation stone was laid in 2022. Many dignitaries attended including India’s ambassadors to France and UNESCO. Local officials expressed their excitement. They see the Mandir as a symbol of harmony and interfaith dialogue.
