“Future music memories that haven’t yet happened.” That is the ambitious goal of one installation at Making Time in London.

Making Time is a unique, multi-sensory exhibition. It explores the relationships between sound, movement, and the human body. It transforms an underground car park into a temporary club.

The Barbican, a brutalist building, hosts Making Time. This exhibition uses unconventional spaces to create visceral experiences. Locations include the Curve gallery, the Silk Street entrance, the lakeside terrace, and underground car parks.

For the first time, installations are set up in Car Park 5 beneath the building. This isn’t just a rave. It’s a series of high-concept sonic experiences.

Temporary Pleasure, a Dublin-based dancefloor design team, creates a post-modern club installation. They use modified car sound systems to make music and sounds. Imagine music pulsating from the very vehicles that once occupied this space.

Domestic Data Streamers, an arts, technology, and research studio, also takes over Car Park 5. They use monoliths around the car park. Generative AI and music boxes create future music memories.

Kinda Studios, a neuroscience research lab, teams up with Nexus Studios animators. They explore how music and sound influence our emotions and internal rhythms. The goal is to deeply connect with visitors.

Making Time seeks to redefine how we experience sound. It encourages visitors to feel the sound in unconventional ways. It is more than just hearing music. It’s about feeling it in your body. It’s about seeing it in the environment.

So, when you visit Making Time, prepare to engage all your senses. Let the sounds move you. Let the installations provoke your thoughts. Let the future music memories resonate within you.
