Established in 1927, it initially welcomed only boys. It wasn’t until 2010 that girls were allowed to join the student body, making it a co-educational institution. The school’s name, Majeediyya, means ‘royal’ or ‘grand’ in Dhivehi, reflecting its importance in the Maldivian educational landscape. The school’s motto, “Nihil Labore Difficile,” which translates to “Nothing is impossible with hard work,” embodies the spirit and perseverance of both its students and teachers. Interestingly, the school’s original name was Madhrasathul Salaahiyyaa. It later changed to Madhrasathul Saniyyathul Hukoomathul Mahaldheebiyya in 1928.
