Did you ever hear of a chocolate factory turning into a green oasis? Here at the Mail de la Chocolaterie in Pantin, that’s exactly what’s happening. This 100-meter passage, connecting Rue Lapérouse and Rue Berthier, dates back to the 1990s. It’s showing its age a bit. The Mail de la Chocolaterie is undergoing a transformation. The city is turning this primarily mineral pathway into a new green space. Imagine a street garden. The existing sophora trees will be preserved. New plants and trees will create lush areas around them. Seven new trees will be planted. One will be in the Mail de la Chocolaterie itself. Six others will grace Rue Berthier and Rue Lapérouse. The drab gray paving stones will be replaced with a light beige surface. The entire public lighting system will be renovated. This project began this summer. Its completion is expected by the end of 2024 or early 2025. The Mail de la Chocolaterie will become a tranquil green escape within the city.
