Initially located on Baker Street the museum quickly gained popularity. Its famous Chamber of Horrors a key attraction from 1843. This displayed figures of notorious criminals and victims of the French Revolution.

The Baker Street location proved too small. In 1883 Marie Tussaud’s grandson Joseph Randall commissioned a new building. The museum moved to its current home on Marylebone Road.
