Right where you are standing today, a single-room library first opened its doors to the public in 1973. It was built on the outskirts of “Old Lystrup” and its opening coincided with the construction of many new buildings in the area during the 1960s. This made the library a central gathering spot for the people of Lystrup. This cozy space is a meeting point for people of all ages, a place for friendly conversations over shared books and it’s used for everything from study groups to club meetings.
Its location within the newer part of Lystrup has given it a unique character as a testament to the growth and development of the community. The library is more than just a place where you can check out books. There’s even a small play area for kids in the children’s section, an area for quiet study and even the local branch of the Lystrup-Elsted-Elev Local History Society is housed here. In 2023, Lystrup Bibliotek celebrated its 50th anniversary in this very building.
