Established in 1954 near the French Embassy it initially served a small community. Parents from both France and Denmark worked together. They wanted a French education for their children. It was originally located on Dag Hammerskjolds Alle. It later found a bigger home on Blegdamsvej. Becoming a self-governing entity in 1967 was a significant milestone. This gave the school more autonomy. The student body grew exponentially. By 1973 they moved again to Frederiksberg Allé.
The school’s name changed in 1989. They named it in honour of Prince Henrik the Prince Consort of Denmark. A French prince himself. This honour reflects the strong bond between France and Denmark. The school continued to expand and moved again. This time to its current location at Rolighedsvej 39. The most recent move was in 2023.
