Founded in 1918, Lycée d’Arsonval stands before us. It began as a primary school. Later, it became a college. Finally, it transformed into a lycée in 1961. Lycée d’Arsonval is located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. The lycée now hosts around 1,100 students. These students are divided into 34 classes.
Initially, the school aimed to prepare boys for the École des Arts et Métiers. It also provided commercial education. Édouard Herriot and Marin inaugurated new buildings. One building was named Bollier after André Bollier. He was a former student and a WWII resister.
A chemistry section started in 1929. It soon became a highlight of Lycée d’Arsonval. In 1944, the school became Collège d’Arsonval. Dr. Arsène d’Arsonval agreed to be its patron in 1938. At the same time, the school began admitting girls.
Lycée d’Arsonval was nationalized in 1959. Major expansions followed its lycée transformation in 1961. The ROSE building opened in 1983. It was renamed Galilée in 1992. This building housed general education and biochemistry. The renovated Bollier building reopened in 1984. It was dedicated to physical sciences. A third building, Clèment Ader, was constructed in 1991. It featured specialized rooms for industrial technology and computer science.
Today, Lycée d’Arsonval comprises five buildings. These include Galilée, Bollier, Ader, a prefabricated structure, and the administrative building. The lycée offers general and technological education. The technological stream focuses on physics, chemistry and biology.
Lycée d’Arsonval provides courses from seconde to baccalauréat. It also has post-bac classes. About 90% of students are in secondary programs. The rest are in preparatory classes or BTS programs. The lycée has general classes. It also offers STL technological baccalaureate options. These include biotechnology and SPCL. Post-bac programs include PCSI, PSI*, BTS in chemistry, and TPC.
The lycée is part of the Créteil academy. In 2023, Lycée d’Arsonval achieved a 94% success rate. This was in the Baccalauréat. Despite its slightly negative value added score, many consider it among the best in its academy. The lycée strives for excellence and comprehensive education. This is reflected in its diverse programs and commitment.
Last year, three students received special honors. They earned the highest mention with jury congratulations. 19 obtained a mention très bien. 72 secured a mention bien. 71 students passed with a mention assez bien.
Lycée d’Arsonval continues to evolve. It adapts to the changing educational landscape. It provides students with the tools for future success.
