What whispers does the wind carry through the heart of Luna: Union of Heaven, Earth, Heart? Here, nestled in Auckland Domain as part of the Domain Sculpture Walk, stands Caroline Robinson’s mesmerizing creation. Luna: Union of Heaven, Earth, Heart was unveiled in 2012. The Domain Sculpture Walk itself is a millennium project. It began when a group of eight sculptors, including names like Chiara Corbelletto and Fred Graham, answered the New Zealand Lottery Grant Board’s call for proposals in 1998. These artists envisioned a way to champion public art. Their concept took root, and between 2004 and 2005, eight sculptures emerged, each thoughtfully placed within Auckland Domain. The Edmiston Trust, with backing from the New Zealand Lotteries Board Millennium Fund and Auckland City Council, proudly supported this artist-led initiative. Each sculpture, including Luna: Union of Heaven, Earth, Heart, resonates with the Domain’s history, weaving its own unique narrative into the landscape. Now, pause for a moment before Luna: Union of Heaven, Earth, Heart. Let your imagination wander back to the origins of this sculpture walk. Picture those eight artists, their minds brimming with ideas, their chosen sites whispering stories of the past. Luna: Union of Heaven, Earth, Heart, stands as a testament to their vision, a beacon of artistic expression in this vibrant city.
