“Lord of Life Lutheran Church is more than just bricks and mortar.” These words echo in my mind as we stand before this house of worship. Lord of Life Lutheran Church history reveals a vibrant community. It is a community built on faith and service. The story of Lord of Life Lutheran Church is one of growth and adaptation.
Lord of Life Lutheran Church found its independence. This independence was maintained by its dedicated staff. Talented members and a strong Congregation Council also helped. The church first moved to 6900 West Fish Lake Road in January 1982. The original sanctuary became the Fellowship Hall. It could seat 220 people.
In 1986, a formal sanctuary was added. This expansion allowed for 450 seats. A third building project completed the education wing in 1991. Lord of Life Lutheran Church purchased adjacent property in 1997. The Fish House provided additional meeting space. It also helped with outreach.
Lord of Life Lutheran Church expanded its reach in 1996. It began using Rush Creek Elementary School. This site at Highway 101 and 89th Avenue served as a worship and Church School location. This allowed Lord of Life to connect with Maple Grove and Corcoran residents.
In 1998, the congregation bought 31 acres. The location was at the intersection of County Roads 101 and 10. The present church facility opened in 2001. It offered more space for worship and education. Fellowship was also improved.
The lighted cross tower was finished in 2003. Five years later, the columbarium and Memorial Peace Garden were completed. They sit at the base of the tower. A significant expansion occurred in 2012. It included an expansion of Fellowship Hall. The Youth Room and administrative offices grew. A prayer chapel was added. Informal gathering spaces became available. Eight more classrooms were built. A service center and Samaritan Hall were also included.
