What makes Lord of Life Lutheran Church different? It’s a question many ask when they first encounter this vibrant community in Maple Grove. Lord of Life sees itself as an extended family. The church welcomes everyone from newborns to those nearing a century in age.

Lord of Life Lutheran Church has a rich history. It reflects a journey of faith and community growth. In January 1982, Lord of Life moved to 6900 West Fish Lake Road. The original sanctuary became the Fellowship Hall. It accommodated 220 people. By 1986, a formal sanctuary was added. It seated 450. An education wing followed in 1991. The church purchased adjacent property in 1997. This became additional meeting space. It also housed outreach facilities.

Expansion continued to be a theme for Lord of Life. In 1996, Lord of Life expanded its outreach. They began using Rush Creek Elementary School. It became a worship and Church School site. This site helped the church reach western Maple Grove. It also helped them reach Corcoran. These were fast-growing areas.

In 1998, the congregation bought 31 acres of land. It was located at the intersection of County Roads 101 and 10. The present church facility was completed in 2001. It offered more space for worship, education, and fellowship. The lighted cross tower was completed in 2003. The columbarium and Memorial Peace Garden were completed in 2008. They stand at the base of the tower.

Lord of Life continued its rapid growth. A building expansion was completed in 2012. This included an expansion of Fellowship Hall. They also expanded the Youth Room and administrative offices. A prayer chapel was added. There were informal gathering spaces too. Eight additional large classrooms were built. The service center and Samaritan Hall were completed.

Lord of Life’s story extends beyond its walls. It’s about living boldly. It’s about putting faith into action. The church cares for the sick, the broken, and the poor. They reach out to those far from Jesus Christ. Members strive to put Jesus’ love into action. They serve their congregation, community, and the world.

Lord of Life is rooted in the community. Its building acts as a community center. The church is at its core. The mission has always been to be a place of peace. It seeks to bless the community. It aims to be a congregation full of joy. Lord of Life wants to spread the good news. This news extends to the Northwestern metro and beyond.

Lord of Life’s membership is impressive. It ranks in the top one-half of one percent. This is among all ELCA congregations in the United States. The church maintains its independence. This is thanks to the dedication of its staff and members. The Congregation Council provides leadership.
