“Soul care center” might sound a bit unusual for an art gallery. But that is exactly what Longtermhandstand in Budapest is. Longtermhandstand isn’t just another gallery. It is an international art gallery system and soul care center.
Longtermhandstand is energized by Péter Bencze and Réka Lőrincz. They envision a space where art meets the soul. What does it mean to “handstand on the field of contemporary art?” It suggests a daring. It suggests an upside-down perspective. It suggests a playful approach to the often serious world of art.
Longtermhandstand has two locations in Budapest. One is on Mészáros utca 38. The other one is Longtermhandstand Hall on Daróczi street 1-3. The Hall is open by appointment. The gallery on Mészáros utca welcomes visitors Wednesday to Friday from 17:00 to 20:00.
What kind of art might you find here? Éva Szombat’s works have been featured. Her exhibition “Echo In Delirium” ran until February 2025. Also her book “I Want Orgasms, Not Roses” is exhibited here. The book explores themes of female sexuality, trauma, and rebellion. Mónika Kárándi & Erin M. Riley have also exhibited at Longtermhandstand. Their show “Deep Inside in the Safest Place” was curated by Péter Bencze.
Longtermhandstand participates in international art fairs. They have showcased artists at Paris Photo in Paris. They attend Art Brussels. You might find them at MATERIAL. Also Crash Club in Warsaw and LISTE are on their list.
One notable exhibition was “Lights Through the Cave”. It featured Ádám Ulbert and Róza El-Hassan. Their art explored nature and spiritual connections. El-Hassan’s sculptures evoke caves. Ulbert’s paintings explore ecological themes.
Imagine stepping into Longtermhandstand. You are surrounded by thought-provoking art. It is art that makes you think and feel. It is a place for both art enthusiasts and those seeking something more profound. Longtermhandstand offers a unique experience. It combines art with soul care. It invites you to explore the depths of creativity and introspection.
