“Gateway to Long Bay,” they called it. The Long Bay Creek Bridge stands before you a testament to thoughtful design.

This bridge isn’t just concrete and steel. It’s a key part of the Long Bay subdivision. Todd Property Ltd. developed this area. They invested in a quality structure for enhanced appeal. The Long Bay Creek Bridge provides primary access to the new subdivision. It connects to the existing roading network at Torbay.

Completed in 2012, the Awaruku Bridge, or Long Bay Creek Bridge, showcases a slender design. It features a 35-meter precast concrete span. Super tee girders frame into in situ concrete abutments. These are supported by bored piles.

Notice the diverging roadway. This allows for the placement of a Marker Tower at the north abutment. See that steel “cattle stop feature”? It fills the void between the two roadways. “Farm gates” are attached at each end. They reference the area’s past as farmland.

LandLAB designed the landscape around the Long Bay Creek Bridge. They created wetlands and open spaces. The Vaughan’s Stream corridor has a series of bridges. These elements facilitate movement and interaction. They connect the stream corridor, neighborhood, and Long Bay Regional Park.

The Vaughan’s Stream Reserve is a new 20-hectare park. It offers Long Bay’s signature landscape experience. The design blends ecological restoration with storm water infrastructure. Boardwalks and pavilions are part of the design.

HEB Construction built the bridge. Novare Design provided detailed design engineering. Jasmax Architect drove the aesthetic enhancements. The Long Bay Creek Bridge is more than just a crossing. It is a gateway and an integral part of Long Bay’s identity. As the area develops, the bridge’s clean lines will contribute to the town center. It’s a well-executed scheme blending functional, environmental, and ecological objectives.
