Barangka’s name echoes a tragic tale. An old woman’s daughter cried for help. “Ka Barang Ka Barang” the hills echoed. Spaniards heard the cry. The place became known as Barangka.
Hagdang Bato played a significant role in the 1896 revolution. Andres Bonifacio issued a proclamation there. The attack on Manila was planned. A meeting of Katipuneros took place. The revolution started as church bells tolled.
Zaniga a marshland. Fruit-bearing trees and hardwood trees grew there. Local heroes fought during Spanish American and Japanese occupations. Streets bear their names. New Zaniga Subdivision emerged.
Plainview a vast plain once planted with rice and corn. Ortigas Madrigal and Company developed it. It now hosts Mandaluyong City Hall.
