The park is named for John A. Logan, a general during the Civil War. Logan Park is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It is a place where children come to play and families hold picnics. It’s a place with an interesting past. The park was originally going to be named after Henry Sibley, the first governor of Minnesota. But, when the park board changed the name, it was renamed after John A. Logan. The story goes that the park commissioner didn’t like the name Washburn, because the brother of William Washburn, a Republican U.S. Senator from Minnesota was named. He was the one who put his foot down and said that the park should be named after Logan. Logan Park is a place full of history and memories. The park has been a place of recreation and fun for many years. It provides playground equipment, a wading pool, a recreation center and a walking path.
