On a quiet stretch of Dittmar Road, stands the Living Faith Baptist Church. It’s a testament to a vision, a dream that took root in the heart of Rickey G. King back in July 1988. Living Faith Baptist Church wasn’t built in a day. Its story begins with humble beginnings, a bible study nurtured in the home of Pastor King and his wife Sandra in November 1994. Their home, brimming with faith and the desire to share God’s word, soon became too small for the growing congregation. Living Faith Baptist Church, in January 1995, held its very first service. Their journey began at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, then moved to New Directions Baptist Church, and finally found temporary solace at Foxwood Apartments. Each move marked not just a change of address, but a testament to their growing congregation, touching lives with each step. In April 1996, Living Faith Baptist Church found a more permanent home on Bricker Road. This wasn’t just a building; it was a symbol of their hard work and dedication. It’s where they celebrated becoming debt-free, acquired property, a van, and even musical instruments. But their journey didn’t end there. May 2008 marked another milestone. Living Faith Baptist Church moved to its current location on Holloway Drive, their growth mirroring their ambition, their “Vision 100”. This goal, years in the making, came to fruition in 2013. But like all stories, this one too had its share of bittersweet moments. They lost their beloved “Mother of Our Church”, Janie Dirden, in February 2013, and founding member Carol Lewis in August of the same year. Yet, their faith remained unshaken. December 2013 saw Living Faith Baptist Church blossom even further with $80,000 worth of renovations. New flooring, polished pews, a renewed pulpit, and enhanced lighting breathed new life into the church. Today, Living Faith Baptist Church stands tall on Dittmar Road, a beacon of faith and community, embodying their motto of “Building Lives by The Book.” It’s a place where families become friends, and friends become family.
