Imagine a place where joy, connection, and growth are more than just words – they are the lifeblood of a community. This is Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church. This vibrant church is nestled in Cedar Park, Texas, and has a heartfelt history that stretches back to 1991.
The church was founded by a small group of people who sought to build a welcoming and supportive religious community in the Northwest Austin area. They first met in a nursing home and eventually found a permanent home in a building on El Salido Parkway. Live Oak has undergone many transformations over the years, but one thing that has remained constant is its dedication to embracing diversity, social justice, and spiritual growth.
In 2004, they welcomed their first minister, Rev. Kathleen Ellis. It was a significant milestone for the church, signifying its continued commitment to building a strong and thriving community. They have a large labyrinth designed for peaceful reflection, a beautiful grand piano, a vibrant choir, and a lively book club. In 2022, Live Oak made history by integrating the eighth principle into their existing seven. Today, Live Oak stands as a beacon of hope and inclusivity for all who seek a welcoming spiritual home.
