“A Light on a Hill” – that phrase resonated with Connie and Dan Cooper in 1983. They were invited to help with a fledgling church plant in a converted home on Highway 287. It wasn’t a glamorous start, but the vision of being a beacon of God’s love drew them in. The tiny church grew, and the Coopers found themselves deeply immersed in ministry. Years passed, and the church, now called Lighthouse Baptist Church, moved to a former shopping center. The Coopers then moved back to England, only to be called back to Texas in 1999. It was then that Dan had a vision of the Midlothian church parking lot filled with people, joyfully engaging with each other. Something within him stirred, and he returned to serve as Lead Pastor. Over time, Lighthouse Baptist Church built its ministry, including a coffee bar and a healing center. Then in 2019, tragedy struck when a tornado devastated all three of their buildings. Undeterred, the Lighthouse family persevered. They met in the coffee bar patio, the city park, and even online via live-stream. This resilient church stood as a testament to the enduring power of faith, demonstrating that even in the face of adversity, their light still shines brightly.
