Established in the 1970s Lewisham College boasts a rich history. Initially known as SELTEC South East London College of Technology it was run by the Inner London Education Authority. This impressive institution has seen numerous transformations. In 1990 it officially became Lewisham College. A significant milestone occurred in 2012 when it merged with Southwark College forming Lewisham Southwark College. This partnership was short-lived however. In 2017 Lewisham Southwark College became part of the Newcastle College Group. Then in 2018 a decision was made to separate the colleges once more. Lewisham College and Southwark College resumed their independent identities.

Lewisham College proudly serves the communities of Lewisham Greenwich and Southwark. It’s a vibrant hub of learning with 16000 student enrolments and 36000 course enrolments. The student body is diverse reflecting the multicultural landscape of South East London. About 57 percent of students come from ethnic minorities. The average age is 29 with a near even gender split.

The college’s commitment to its community is evident in its numerous initiatives. It offers extensive support for apprenticeships working with London businesses. It provides a free end-to-end service for employers facilitating work experience placements guest speakers and workshops.
