Urban flair meets relaxation here at the Lerchenauer See. This lake is one of the oldest in northern Munich. Imagine, back in the 1930s, this lake and its neighbors, Fasaneriesee and Feldmochinger See, formed what locals call the Dreiseenplatte or Three Lake Plate.

The Lerchenauer See isn’t huge. It covers about 7.9 hectares and reaches a depth of seven meters. Despite its size, it draws thousands of Munich residents on hot days. They come to relax on the beautiful lawns around the lake.
Families love the Lerchenauer See. A large playground keeps the little ones entertained. Also a restaurant ensures no one goes hungry.
The water quality here is excellent. It has been rated as “ausgezeichnet” since 2022. The city checks it regularly between mid-May and mid-September. The water temperature in summer is between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius.
Getting to the Lerchenauer See is easy. Bus line 60 stops right at the lake. You can reach the lake in about 30 minutes from the main train station.
Like grilling? You are in luck. The Lerchenauer See has designated grilling zones. However, arrive early to secure your spot.
Please note that dogs aren’t allowed on the sunbathing lawns. But, you can walk them on a leash around the lake. The Wasserwacht or water rescue service is on duty during weekends and holidays.
