Sixty million LEGO bricks. That’s a lot of imagination. Right here before us stands Legoland Malaysia the first international theme park in Malaysia. Opened on September 15 2012 it’s also the first Legoland in Asia and the sixth globally. Sultan Ibrahim Ismail himself graced the opening.
This isn’t just any theme park. Legoland Malaysia is a sprawling wonderland. It covers an area equal to fifty football fields. More than fifteen thousand LEGO models call this place home. Think about that for a second. Fifteen thousand intricate creations.
Miniland alone took three years to build. Thirty million LEGO bricks were used to recreate iconic Asian landmarks. You’ll find the Petronas Twin Towers. They are made of half a million bricks. There is Singapore’s Merlion India’s Taj Mahal. Even local Johor landmarks are meticulously detailed. Many of these models even move.
But Legoland Malaysia isn’t just for kids. Adults will find plenty to enjoy. There are three roller coasters a 4D cinema. In fact Legoland Malaysia boasts the world’s first LEGO-themed virtual reality roller coaster. The Great LEGO Race. It opened in 2017 before spreading to other Legolands.
And don’t forget SEA LIFE Malaysia. This lesser-known addition houses over thirteen thousand sea creatures representing one hundred and twenty species. It’s an underwater adventure all its own.
Beyond the rides and attractions there is a workshop for aspiring LEGO engineers. Young and old can spend hours creating their own masterpieces. You can even test your builds on an earthquake table. It is a truly unique place.
