Originally located in Beckenham Langley Park School for Boys moved to Penge in 1931. In 1969 it found its current home in Eden Park Beckenham. This move marked a new chapter. It was when it adopted the name Langley Park School for Boys.
Langley Park School for Boys converted to an academy on March 31 2011. Today it stands as an academy converter. Langley Park School for Boys is a testament to its commitment to education.
The school’s motto “Mores et Studia” means good character and learning. This reflects its dedication to developing well-rounded individuals. Langley Park School for Boys strives to instill values and knowledge in its students.
Langley Park School for Boys is known for its sports especially hockey. It is one of the few state schools that play hockey. The school has competed in national finals. In 2004 the under-16 team became national champions. It was the first comprehensive school to achieve this. The school also offers cricket tennis basketball football and table tennis.
Music also thrives here at Langley Park School for Boys. The music department offers concert band chamber orchestra brass band and choir. They also explore world music styles like Cuban and African drumming. In 2013 the brass band performed at the Royal Albert Hall.
Langley Park School for Boys also has a co-ed sixth form. At 16 plus the school is co-educational.
Notable alumni include Rory Allen a former Tottenham Hotspur footballer. Also among the alumni is Rob Key managing director of the England men’s cricket team. Bill Wyman musician and ex-member of the Rolling Stones also attended the school.
The headmaster Mr. Gammon died in 1940 from a bomb during the war.
Langley Park School for Boys also uses a converted church in Youlgreave for school trips.
The arms of Langley Park School for Boys feature the white horse of Kent. They also depict the families Bruyns and de la Rokele. These families once controlled the Manor of Beckenham. The crest includes an oak tree and a mitre. The motto was suggested by a master.
