The Landkreis Konstanz’s coat of arms tells a story too. Fish appear in the top left and bottom right. They stand for Lake Constance’s fishing industry. They were taken from the Counts of Veringen-Nellenbach’s coat of arms. These antlers represent Stockach city and district.

The border between the Landkreis Konstanz and Switzerland stretches 84 kilometers. Over 900 border stones mark it. These stones are placed so each is visible from the next. Every six years, German and Swiss officials inspect the border. They replace clean or repaint the stones as needed. These stones are 1.5 meters tall and weigh 300 kilograms. They have a cross-section of at least 30 centimeters.
