Established in 1905 Lancaster High School boasts a rich history. It began as the William L White School a one-room building serving grades 1-12. The school district grew rapidly. A new high school opened in 1923 on Centre Avenue. This building now houses the LISD administration. Lancaster High School became the first in Dallas County to be accepted into the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1929 a significant achievement. The school moved again in 1965 to 822 West Pleasant Run Road. In 1978 it was renamed Lancaster Elsie Robertson High School honoring a beloved educator. Fast forward to 2004. Lancaster voters approved a substantial bond package for a new high school complex. This included athletic facilities a stadium and an auditorium. The new Lancaster High School opened in 2006 at 200 East Wintergreen Road. The former high school site became a middle school. Today Lancaster High School offers International Baccalaureate and STEM Early College programs. Its athletic programs especially track and field have a long-standing tradition of excellence. The Tigers basketball team reached the state finals multiple times winning state titles in 2015 and 2016. The school’s marching band known as the Tiger Pride Marching Band is also renowned for its high-stepping performances. The school even produced notable alumni who went on to excel in various fields including professional sports and music. Lancaster High School a true cornerstone of the community continues to shape the lives of its students preparing them for success.
