What secrets lie hidden within these walls? Right here, before you, stands Lambeth Archives & Minet Library. This isn’t just any library. Lambeth Archives & Minet Library is a treasure chest brimming with the stories of Lambeth, whispering tales of its past and present. For 133 years, Lambeth Archives & Minet Library shared its home with another institution, the Minet Library. Founded in 1890 by William Minet, Minet Library housed an extensive collection of books, rare prints, and manuscripts. These treasures, deeply intertwined with Lambeth’s history, became a core part of the archive’s collection. Sadly, Minet Library isn’t in this building anymore. In 2024, Lambeth Archives moved to a new, purpose-built facility in Brixton Hill. But the legacy of both institutions remains, a testament to the enduring power of history and knowledge. Step inside, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by the echoes of countless lives, a testament to the rich tapestry of human experience held within Lambeth Archives & Minet Library.
