They also polish large, highly aspherical optics. The diameter of these optics can be up to 2.5 meters. These facilities include assembly, integration and testing resources. They simulate space environments. They provide vacuum and cryogenic capabilities down to 4K. Vibration testing is also possible.

With technical services, LAM specializes in system-level instrument design. It is expert in assembling, integrating, testing, and qualifying large instruments. These instruments are for ground-based and space-based observatories.

CESAM is the data center. It develops new image processing algorithms. It sets up data processing chains. It provides astronomical data via databases. This is within the Virtual Observatory framework.
