Have you noticed the serene beauty that radiates from the Quito Ecuador Temple? It stands as the 175th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This sacred space is located in Cumbayá, just east of Quito. It is the second temple in Ecuador. The first one is the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple.

Imagine the excitement when the intent to construct the Quito Ecuador Temple was announced. Thomas S. Monson made the announcement on April 3, 2016.

Consider the groundbreaking ceremony on May 11, 2019. Enrique R. Falabella presided over it. The Interior Minister of Ecuador, María Paula Romo, attended. Several Ecuadorian religious leaders and over 800 people were present.

Originally planned for completion in 2021 the temple’s dedication was delayed. The COVID-19 pandemic caused this delay. Finally, in 2022, the temple was dedicated. Before its dedication a public open house took place. More than 50000 people attended between October 14 and 29. Quentin L. Cook dedicated the temple on November 20, 2022.

Notice the architecture of the Quito Ecuador Temple. It reflects Quito’s cultural heritage. It also embodies the temple’s spiritual significance. The temple occupies a 3.96-acre plot. Royal palm trees, gray brick sidewalks, and an andesite stone fountain surround it. Patron housing is conveniently located on the site.

The Quito Ecuador Temple features a single central spire. Atop the spire is a statue of the angel Moroni. The temple stands 97 feet tall. It has cast-in-situ concrete walls and floors. White Turkish limestone clads the exterior. The exterior showcases carved stone panels and art glass windows. Abstract floral designs adorn the art glass windows. The colors include blue, dark green, light green, red, yellow, and white.

Step inside the Quito Ecuador Temple. A floral motif centered around geraniums will catch your eye. This design appears in the art glass windows and embroidered carpets. The temple includes two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry. Each room is arranged for ceremonial use.

Consider the geraniums. They are a very representative flower of the city of Quito.

Remember that Bolivar F. Aguirre and Ana L. de Aguirre direct the temple. They serve as president and matron.

The Quito Ecuador Temple serves members from Quito, Otavalo, Ambato, and Santo Domingo. It also serves other areas in the region. It stands as a beacon of faith. It offers blessings to those who enter its doors.
