At that time, Dallas Power and Light was already a growing force in the city. It had taken root in 1917 and occupied a space on this very block. As the company prospered, it envisioned a grander presence. By 1930, they had begun acquiring surrounding properties, setting the stage for the construction of this magnificent Art Deco skyscraper. But the story doesn’t end there. The company’s ambitions matched Dallas’s own growth. Through the years, Dallas Power and Light continued expanding, eventually occupying every single building on the block by 1982. This building, the L Building, stands as a testament to their legacy.
