Marvelous isn’t it? This stunning building before you is the Koishikawa Annex Museum of Architecture part of the University Museum at the University of Tokyo.

This isn’t just any museum. It’s the oldest surviving building of the University of Tokyo. It’s a treasure a testament to history and architectural brilliance.

Originally the main building of the Tokyo Medical School it witnessed countless students learn and grow. Imagine the lectures the experiments the breakthroughs that occurred within these very walls. In 1877 the Tokyo Medical School merged with the Tokyo Kaisei School to form the University of Tokyo. This building became a crucial part of the medical department.

Later it underwent a remarkable journey. In 1965 it was dismantled. It was meticulously moved and reassembled in 1969 in the beautiful Koishikawa Botanical Garden. Think about the effort the precision involved in such a feat.
