Surely, there are limestone cliffs. They offer a unique climbing experience at Klettergarten Nofels. This urban sport crag is located less than two kilometers from downtown Feldkirch.
Klettergarten Nofels is known well beyond Feldkirch. It has good public transport connections. The approach is very short. You will find a shady wall base and many easier routes.
The cliff at Klettergarten Nofels has 30 to 40 single pitch sport routes. Most routes are of moderate grades from UIAA 5 to 7. The cliff gets sun most of the day. Large trees at the base provide shade when they are leafed out. Most routes are about 60 feet high. They feature 7-9 bolts and have anchors. The rock is pleasantly grippy. The routes are very varied.
To get to Klettergarten Nofels, follow an obvious path. From the northwest corner of the parking lot, go about 150 feet north. This leads to the left end of the cliff. Drop down to the base of the cliff. You will be at the left end of the developed wall.
The Klettergarten Nofels area was set up a few years ago. It lies in an area of a former quarry. The difficulties range from 3- to 6a+.
To reach Klettergarten Nofels by bus, take bus 404 to Nofels Steinbruchgasse. From the bus stop Nofels Steinbruchgasse head west. Follow the signs towards Fitnesscenter Tschann. In a few minutes you will reach the base of the climbing garden Nofels via a well-kept forest path.
