Legend says that this spot was once a hunting lodge. Landgrave Moritz used it. However, no traces of this lodge have ever been found. Today, the name Kleiner Herbsthaus refers to a charming restaurant. It sits in the area of the former Schlüsselstollen mine.

To reach the Kleiner Herbsthaus, trails beckon. The Habichtswaldsteig trail passes by it. The Märchenlandweg trail leads eastward.

In 2005, a fire destroyed the Kleiner Herbsthaus. But it was rebuilt. It reopened in December 2006. It is larger than before.
