The heart of Kirchhuchting was once the area surrounding the Dorfkrug, a local inn built in 1867, and St. Georg’s Church. The church, with its striking neo-Gothic architecture, was constructed in 1877, replacing the older, dilapidated village church. Its design, by architects Eduard Gildemeister and Henrich Deetjen, reflects a blend of history and modernity that Kirchhuchting embodies. Nearby, the community center, designed around 1963 by Carsten Schrök, adds a contemporary touch. After World War II, the local administrative office (Ortsamt), a police station, and a Sparkasse bank branch were added, further solidifying Kirchhuchting’s role as a central hub. A former school center at Willakedamm, designed by Carl Rotermund in 1959, was decommissioned around 2006. The Roland-Center, a prominent shopping mall, opened in Kirchhuchting in 1972.
