Kirazlı Mahallesi is located on the European side of Istanbul. It is part of the Bağcılar district. Bağcılar was once part of the Bakırköy municipality. In 1992, it became its own municipality. This happened through Law 3806. Kirazlı joined Bağcılar along with Güneşli and Mahmut Bey.

The area of Kirazlı is small. It covers just 0.94 square kilometers. Despite its size, its population is significant. In 2023, Kirazlı was home to 39340 people. The population has changed over the years. In 1940, only 122 people lived here. By 1980, it had grown to 11563.

Bağcılar, which includes Kirazlı, has an interesting name. It comes from its agricultural past. The area was known for growing grapes. Bağcılar means vineyard growers in Turkish.

Transportation is plentiful around Kirazlı. The Bağcılar-Kirazlı metro line begins in Yenikapı near Aksaray-Fatih. It passes through several areas before reaching Bağcılar-Kirazlı. The Kabataş-Bağcılar T1 tramway line is also a quick way to get here.
