It also had a running track horseshoe and tennis courts. An 18-hole putting green two playgrounds and even penned-in rabbits were part of the fun. A fieldhouse a maintenance building and a unique greenhouse completed the scene. This greenhouse wasn’t just for show. In 1934 Kilbourn Park became part of the Chicago Park District. Clarence Hatzfeld a talented architect designed all three of the park’s buildings. The Chicago Park District also planted a large perennial garden in the late 1930s. This garden wasn’t maintained for a while but a renewed interest led to a volunteer program.
