Four picnic areas dot the Sassafras Creek Nature Conservation Reserve. Kensleys Picnic Ground is one of them. Nestled amongst towering Mountain Ash trees Kensleys offers a tranquil escape. Imagine the sounds of Sassafras Creek whispering secrets through the ferns. Kensleys is part of a 17km walking track. The track winds along Sassafras Creek. It’s a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. You might even spot some of the unique flora and fauna. Think soft tree ferns and Slender Tree ferns. They create a protective canopy for the delicate ground ferns. Before 2020 bird feeding was popular at Grants Picnic Ground nearby. Crimson Rosellas and King Parrots were regular visitors. Now however bird feeding is banned. Kensleys itself is a haven of peace. It’s away from the bustling crowds of some of the more popular picnic spots. It offers a chance to reconnect with nature. There are no BBQs or toilets. However this adds to its rustic charm. Remember to bring your own supplies. Leave no trace behind.
