The college recognized a gap in high-quality business management training. Other professions like law and accountancy had well-established training courses. Kensington College of Business aimed to fill that void for business.

From its early days, Kensington College of Business sought the best external qualifications. It offered its own material and diplomas alongside those. The college constantly looked for real-life corporate exposure. This positioned it as a specialist business school for future managers.

Early qualifications included CIM for marketing. ABE for business management. ICSA for corporate administration and CIB for banking. Kensington College of Business offered these courses full-time and part-time.

The college’s reputation grew quickly. Leading companies sponsored students. By 1992 Kensington College of Business relocated to central London. Many students worked part-time. Holborn provided an ideal location between the City and the West End. Despite the move, the college kept its name. By then it had strong customer loyalty.

In 1992 Kensington College of Business began delivering university degree courses. It pioneered links between professional bodies and universities. This ensured students gained academically challenging qualifications. It also prepared graduates for the workplace.

Kensington College of Business was among the first independent colleges approved as a degree course provider. This was authorized by an Act of Parliament. It originated from the UK Government’s Department of Education.

Over time Kensington College of Business has offered various degrees. These include foundation Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. They partnered with about a dozen UK Universities. Kensington College of Business began including courses for law accountancy and computing. These had been its model when founded. The college has continued to offer its own specialized diplomas. These diplomas have been widely recognized by universities.

In 2003 Kensington College of Business established a sister institution in Brunei. This is named Laksamana College of Business. It is now one of the highest-ranked institutions in the country. Projects are underway to allow students to divide their studies between London and Brunei.

Today Kensington College of Business continues to offer innovative programs. These include the Chartered Governance Institute awards. The college is the only validated center for the Certificate in Company Secretarial Practice. It also offers vocational courses via the BTEC Higher National Diploma.

Kensington College of Business is a London campus of the University of Chester. It offers MBA MSc BA and BSc programs. The college is a registered center with the University of London. It also works with the University of South Wales the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Portsmouth.

All undergraduate and postgraduate programs are validated by the University of Wales. Except for the Law degree which is awarded by the University of London. Kensington College of Business itself is accredited to offer HNC and HND courses from BTEC Pearson in Business. Students seeking university degrees sit for exams at the University of Chester.
