The roar of a thousand Wildcats echoes in my memory. Kennedale High School. That’s where it all happened.
This isn’t just any high school. This is Kennedale High School a cornerstone of this community. Opened in 1998 it replaced the old junior high at 930 Bowman Springs Road. The new building at 901 Wildcat Way became home to generations of Wildcats.
Kennedale High School is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a place of triumphs and heartbreaks. Think about the 2015 and 2016 girls’ soccer teams. They brought home state championship titles. Remember the 2008 boys’ basketball team? Their state championship victory remains legendary. The school boasts a winning history in baseball softball and track and field too. The Wildcat Marching Band holds a remarkable record. For fourteen years between 2006 and 2020 they qualified for the UIL state championship.
But Kennedale High School isn’t just about athletic achievements. It’s also a place of academic excellence. Its students excel in UIL academics and have gone on to great things. Look around you. You’re standing where future doctors lawyers engineers and artists walked these halls. Wes Bautovich Cedric James Daniel Millican Baron Browning and Allie Thornton all walked these halls. They are just a few of Kennedale High School’s notable alumni.
The school offers a rich tapestry of extracurricular activities. From the Art Club to the National Honor Society there’s something for everyone. The school spirit is palpable. You can almost feel the energy of those Friday night football games. The pride in this school is infectious.
