Isn’t it intriguing how neighborhoods get their names? Today, we are exploring Kaynarca. This neighborhood resides within Pendik, a district of Istanbul.

Kaynarca has a story to tell and a population of 47,493. Birol Okay currently leads Kaynarca as its headman. The Marmaray line serves Kaynarca railway station with local trains.

Let’s dive deeper into Pendik, where Kaynarca is located. Pendik sits on Istanbul’s Asian side. It has gained attention because of construction expansion. Many property buyers consider Pendik a potentially profitable investment, due to its annual growth.

Pendik’s location is quite strategic. It lies at Istanbul’s easternmost Asian point. From the north, it neighbors the Şile region. To the south, it meets the Marmara Sea. The Tuzla neighborhood borders it to the east. Kartal, Sancaktepe and Sultan Bailey are to the west. Pendik covers about 168 square kilometers. The last census recorded approximately 710,000 residents. Pendik includes 36 neighborhoods.

Pendik’s history stretches back. Istanbul archaeologists believe the area existed before the Byzantine Empire around 5,000 years ago. Around 753 BC, the area saw its first inhabitants. The Seljuk sultans took control in 1080 AD. Six years later, it became a Byzantine colony again.

In ancient times, the region bore the name “Pantikap.” This translates to “city of five walls” or “five gates.” Wealthy Istanbul residents used the area as a summer retreat in the 20th century. They frequented their villas for holidays. Pendik became an independent district in 1987 after separating from the Kartal district. In 1992, Tuzla separated from Pendik to become its own neighborhood.

Pendik offers various amenities. It boasts many medical centers, including a large hospital. Several private hospitals and polyclinics cater to healthcare needs. Shopping is a popular pastime in Turkey. Pendik has several top shopping malls. These include Viaport, Atlantis, Axis, Asia and Pendoria.

For students, Pendik offers educational opportunities. Balkan University, Gadik University, Sabiha Gokcen University and Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University are located here.

Considering property investment? Pendik presents a growing area suitable for investment. Property prices are lower than in other Istanbul neighborhoods.

Kaynarca, as part of Pendik, offers a blend of history, strategic location and modern amenities. As we conclude our visit, remember Kaynarca. It is more than just a name. It is a vibrant neighborhood with a story woven into Istanbul’s grand tapestry.
