How about a journey through time and faith? We are standing before the Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche Leipzig-Süd. It stands as a testament to resilience and architectural beauty.

This church is one of three Katholisch-Apostolische churches in Leipzig. The others are in Leipzig-Mitte and Leipzig-Lindenau. We are going to explore the story of the Leipzig-Süd location.

Julius Zeißig designed the Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche Leipzig-Süd. Construction took place between 1896 and 1897. Zeißig was a prolific architect.

Originally, the Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche Leipzig-Süd was a neogothic brick building. Red brick gave it a distinctive appearance. But disaster struck during a World War II air raid on March 25 1945. Only the outer walls, the basement, and the adjoining residential building survived.

For many years the church remained damaged. Finally, in 1988 and 1989, the original solid roof was rebuilt.

The Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche Leipzig-Süd once housed a magnificent Gottfried Hildebrand organ. It had two manuals and 15 stops. Sadly, the 1897 organ was destroyed in 1945. In 1983, the community acquired a new instrument. The Gemeinderaum now houses a Böhm positive organ with one manual and five stops.

The Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche Leipzig-Süd stands as a symbol of faith. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of its community.
