Ever smelled a mango? K9 Archer loves mangoes. He’s a German Shepherd Belgian Malinois mix. He works for the Hawaii Police Department. Archer is part of the Vice Section in Kona. He’s one of six K9 officers in the HPD. The department started using police dogs back in 1983. Two donated dogs started it all. A German Shorthair Pointer and a Black Labrador.
The HPD uses many breeds. German Shepherds Belgian Malinois Labrador Retrievers and German Shorthair Pointers. They even have dogs trained for live human tracking. Not just narcotics. Archer’s job is finding drugs. He’s incredibly skilled. His sense of smell is amazing. He can find tiny amounts of drugs hidden anywhere. Cars buildings parcels you name it.
Archer was born in Hungary. He’s got a great work ethic. A pleasant demeanor too. He’s perfect for school and public demonstrations. Officer Sidra Brown is Archer’s handler. They’re a great team. They work tirelessly to keep the community safe. Archer and his fellow K9 officers are vital to fighting drug trafficking. They’re highly trained professionals. They’re a key part of HPD’s law enforcement efforts.
Archer isn’t just about the work though. He enjoys looking handsome. Mangoes are his favorite treat. He’s more than just a police dog. He’s a beloved member of the HPD family. He’s a symbol of dedication and service. He shows the positive relationship between law enforcement and the community. He’s a great example of what a police dog can achieve.
