“A new journey after over 40 years” is what they say about Jinjiang Action Park. This park is not just any park. It is a landmark of fun and memories in Shanghai.

Let’s dive into the story of Jinjiang Action Park. Founded in 1984, this park quickly became a favorite. It’s affiliated with the Jinjiang Group, a name synonymous with quality. For many Shanghai residents, the park evokes mixed emotions.

Covering 103,000 square meters, Jinjiang Action Park boasts over 30 attractions. Among these, the Shanghai Ferris Wheel stands out. It was China’s first Ferris wheel over 100 meters tall. The Ferris wheel is 108-metre tall. Its diameter is 98 metres. A single rotation takes about 20 to 25 minutes. On a clear day, riders can spot the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. They can also see the Songpu, Fengpu and Xupu bridges. Sheshan Hill is visible too.

Jinjiang Action Park is home to five roller coasters. The Flying Raiders is a suspended coaster that opened in 2019. The Giant Inverted Boomerang is an inverted shuttle coaster from 2011. The Karst Cave Coaster is an indoor powered coaster. It was installed around 2005. Moto Coaster is a motorbike roller coaster since 2009. The Roller Coaster, a shuttle coaster, dates back to 1985.

Other attractions include the Pirate Ship, Horror House, and Super Swing. Spinning Cup, Volcano Theater, and Joyland offer different thrills. The Flume Ride, Bumper Boats, and Layered Merry-go-around are classic favorites. Moto Disco, Canyon Raft Ride, and Royal Scenery Raft add to the variety. Airship Around The World, Jumpin Star, and Power Surge cater to adrenaline seekers. Crazy Wheel, Fly Kites in Spring, and Bumper Cars offer more fun. Awesome Space Travelers and Tilt-A-Whirl complete the lineup. A monorail offers a relaxing tour of the park.

To reach Jinjiang Action Park, take Shanghai Metro Line 1 to Jinjiang Park station. Hukun Expressway also provides direct access. Over 20 bus routes have stops nearby.

The Shanghai Ferris Wheel began operating in May 2003. It cost over 10 million yuan to build. Each of its 63 passenger cars holds six people.

Now, Jinjiang Action Park is set for a rebirth. The park closed on January 26 for a major renovation. It is scheduled to reopen in 2027. The Jinjiang International Group aims to update the park’s facilities. The goal is to create a new landmark for Shanghai’s cultural scene. But it won’t just be renovated. China’s first Harry Potter Studio Tour will transform the park.

The park’s transformation evokes mixed emotions for residents. It will become the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai. It is awaiting final regulatory approval. Construction is set to begin in late 2025.

This isn’t just another theme park. It is an immersive journey into the craft of movie-making. Visitors will experience the Harry Potter franchise enhanced by cutting-edge technology. The transformation of Jinjiang Action Park marks a new chapter. It honors the park’s history while embracing the future.
