“A family that welcomes everyone” That’s the promise whispered on the wind outside Jesus is the Way Christian Church. This unassuming building on Nicholson Street in Footscray holds a powerful story. It’s a story of faith hope and community.
Jesus is the Way Christian Church began in August 1990. It started as a small gathering. Devout brothers led by Pastor Domingo Fuentes and Armando Gonzales held meetings in homes. They brought Pentecostal teachings to Melbourne. Many Christians yearned for God’s presence. They found it in these intimate gatherings.
The church grew rapidly. Within a month the burgeoning congregation needed a dedicated space. By 1992 Jesus is the Way Christian Church had blossomed. It was flourishing. A new chapter began. The founding pastor transitioned. He passed the torch to the current pastor. The church’s reach expanded. It extended to prisons hospitals and nursing homes. They actively supported the community with food programs. They even launched a radio show in 1998. “Despertar Hispano” brought their message to a wider audience.
Jesus is the Way Christian Church firmly believes in the Bible. They see it as the inspired and unfailing word of God. They acknowledge one God eternally present in three persons. God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are equal in essence. They believe salvation comes only through personal acceptance of Jesus Christ.
Today Jesus is the Way Christian Church continues to thrive. It remains a beacon of hope and clarity. It’s a place of family and community. It welcomes everyone. It’s a testament to enduring faith. A place where the words of Jesus Christ inspire lives. Come and see for yourself. You are welcome here.
