Has anyone ever told you about the time Jehovah Lutheran Church held a five-part centennial celebration? Jehovah Lutheran Church, right here in St. Paul, marked its 100th anniversary with a series of events spanning two years. The theme was “100 Years of Grace: Walking Together at Jehovah Lutheran.” The festivities kicked off on Reformation Sunday in 2023, focusing on the church’s early history. Jehovah Lutheran Church first opened its doors in 1924 at the corner of Snelling and Thomas. Did you know their very first services were held in a feed store near Snelling and Minnehaha? The celebration continued through 2024, marking milestones like the construction of their current building, which broke ground in 1963. Each event highlighted a different 20-year period of the church’s history. Guest preachers included the president of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and former pastors of Jehovah Lutheran Church. The final celebration, also on Reformation Sunday, brought the community together, reflecting on a century of faith and looking forward to the future.
